Faculty of Education – Internal Research Grant Competition

September 18, 2009

The Faculty of Education, UWO announces a special request for proposals for its Internal Research Grant program.  Additional funds ($5000) are available for distribution from this fund. If several requests for funds are deemed fundable the committee may decide to award an amount less than the maximum allowable ($2,500).

From the guidelines: “Surplus: In the event that the funding awarded is less than the amount available in the budget, the Research Committee will consider other options for awarding the funds such as running a second competition during the fiscal year, providing seed funds to those researchers who were unsuccessful in applications for external funding, or other research possibilities.”

Deadline: November 2, 2009, 4:00 p.m. (for a decision by December 1, 2009)

Amount: up to $2,500 over one year (must be spent by April 30, 2010)

Description: These awards are to support the cost of research projects of modest scope (seed money, one-time requests, and projects of short duration). Preference will be given to probationary faculty.

Eligibility: The fund is restricted to faculty members within the Faculty of Education. Part-time or seconded faculty are not eligible to apply. Faculty may hold only one Internal Research & Development Grant annually.

RD&S has hosted more than 20 Information/Training sessions to date, with eight additional sessions still available.  These sessions have been well attended and have included some wonderful discussions and ideas regarding benefits to be realized with the launch of this new system.

In addition to the Information/Training sessions, RD&S will be offering “Live Labs” after the September 17th launch, at this time there are 11 lab times available. Labs are intended to provide a “hands-on” environment where individuals can bring an actual sponsor application and complete a “ROLA Proposal” with knowledgeable ROLA systems staff in the room.

Each Lab will begin with a brief introduction and visual overview of the system and then allow you the time needed to complete the process.

Individual PIs, Research Support Staff and Administrative Support staff are all welcome to attend.

**NOTE: ROLA will be working directly in production and ask that you not use the lab to complete test Proposals. Contact rolahelp@uwo.ca if you wish to make arrangements in this regard.
