As SSHRC implements its new program architecture, important aspects of the International Opportunities Fund (IOF) and Image, Text, Sound and Technology (ITST) programs have been integrated into the funding opportunities associated with SSHRC’s new Insight and Connection programs.

Researchers who would have previously submitted proposals to the IOF or ITST programs may now submit proposals to the funding opportunities described below.

International Opportunities Fund alternatives:

Proposals with international co-applicants:  Researchers, teams and formal partnerships submitting proposals for research or research-related activities that include international co-applicants may apply to the following funding opportunities:

Proposals for workshops taking place outside of Canada: On a trial basis, and in keeping with the workshops component of the International Opportunities Fund, applications proposing workshops taking place outside of Canada will be accepted in the Aid to Research Workshops and Conferences program.  Note that applications for international conferences will not be accepted.

Image, Text, Sound and Technology alternatives:

Funding research on digital media, including work that was funded in under image, text, sound and technology (ITST), is one of SSHRC’s priority areas.

Applicants to the above mentioned funding opportunities whose proposals relate to this area are invited to indicate this in their applications.
