Dr. Mary Hamilton – Visiting Scholar

Dr. Mary Hamilton will be our Visiting Scholar, visiting us for the month of June.  Dr. Hamilton, a social psychologist, is an internationally renowned scholar, based at the Centre for the Study of Education and Training (CSET) within the Department of Educational Research and is an Associate Director of the Lancaster Literacy Research Centre which is a partner in the National Research and Development Centre for Adult Literacy and Numeracy (NRDC) in Lancaster, UK. She is a contributor to UNESCO and European Community initiatives on literacy and is a founder member of the national network, Research and Practice in Adult Literacy. She is a groundbreaking contributor to the social practice approach to literacy studies and continues to innovate such studies by her use of concepts from actor network theory, institutional ethnography, and linguistic ethnography.  She is also a major contributor to the production of knowledge related to innovative research methodology including qualitative and participatory models and on-line research with a special interest in Computer Assisted Qualitative Data Analysis and the use of visual images and multimodal data sources in research.

A schedule of talks and times when Mary will be available to meet with individual students and faculty will be advertised in the coming weeks.
