Based on the response received from the research community, it is clear that there has been some confusion concerning the deadline for submission of NSERC’s Form 180. Although the 5 PM deadline for submission has existed for a number of years, and has been communicated in our correspondence to RGOs and potential applicants, this is the first year that the online system has prevented acceptance of forms after the deadline has elapsed. Because of the mandatory nature of the Form 180, NSERC has decided to extend the deadline for submission of the form as a one-time mitigation strategy.
The on-line system will therefore be re-opened August 3 and the deadline extended to Wednesday, August 8th. Applications must be received by that date at NSERC by 5:00 p.m. local time (at your location). Please note that no updates to already received forms will be accepted. Applicants who sent a PDF version of their Form 180 as an e-mail attachment must submit their form electronically using the online system.
Please be aware that this is an exceptional measure that NSERC is putting in place and be mindful of the importance of respecting future deadlines, including later in the fall. Applicants are responsible for timely submission of their applications and should refer to relevant program literature on the NSERC website. No further exceptions will be made.
