Description: Insight Grants support research excellence in the social sciences and humanities. Funding is available to both emerging and established scholars for long-term research initiatives of three to five years.
Eligibility: A Principal Investigator (PI) must be eligible to hold a research account. An individual may not, in a calendar year, submit, as applicant (principal investigator/project director), an application for both an Insight Development Grant and an Insight Grant. To be eligible to apply to the October 2013 Insight Grants competition, applicants must first submit a Notice of Intent to SSHRC via the online forms system by August 15, 2013.
Applications: Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development & Services and are to be accompanied by a completed ROLA.

Applicants must submit a Notice of Intent to SSHRC via the online forms system.
- RD&S Application Submission Deadline: October 8, 2013, 5pm EST
Each applicant must complete and submit a ROLA Proposal by October 7, 2013. and
Submit the application on SSHRC website or email a PDF of the application to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note “SSHRC Insight Application” in the subject line.
- Electronic submission by the Applicant: October 15, 2013, 2:00 pm EST.
The Insight Grants Application and instructions are available online as of July 15, 2013.
The applicant must ‘Submit to Research Administrator’ on SSHRC website by Electronic approval, submission and receipt no later than 2:00 pm of the final deadline date. The Research Services Office must then approve and submit the application to SSHRC. SSHRC will acknowledge receipt of your electronic application and will assign you an application number.
Western as CO-APPLICANT Institution
After the submission date, SSHRC will require Western’s institutional approval of all Applicants and Co-Applicants listed on SSHRC Insight Grants.
