Call for Proposals for Fellowships beginning May 1, 2014

The Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) invites applications from full-time Western faculty members in the following Faculties for a three-year teaching fellowship, commencing May 1, 2014: Arts and Humanities, Ivey Business School, Education, Engineering, Law, Information and Media Studies, Science, Don Wright Faculty of Music

Deadline:  March 14, 2014

Description: The goal of the Teaching Fellows Program is to enhance teaching innovation and teaching quality at Western.  The Program will bring together a cohort of outstanding faculty (Teaching Fellows) who will provide educational leadership, perform research on teaching, and disseminate the knowledge they acquire to the larger university community and beyond.
Up to two Teaching Fellows will be selected competitively to work collaboratively with the Teaching Support Centre (TSC) and their Faculties.  Fellows will develop and complete an innovative project designed to enhance teaching and learning in their disciplines.

The theme of this Teaching Fellows Program competition will be technology-enabled learning.
•    Teaching Fellows receive up to a 40% secondment from their Department/Faculty to the TSC for a three-year term, starting in May 1, 2014.  Only one Teaching Fellowship will be awarded per Faculty.
•    Teaching Fellows are eligible for up to $10,000 funding per year for three years to conduct their scholarly project related to teaching.
•    At the beginning of their term, Teaching Fellows must be available for a three-day Great Teachers Seminar (May 7-9, 2014) to prepare for their role and build their skills for educational leadership.
