Spencer Foundation – Mid Career Grant Program

The Spencer Foundation has announced the second round of its grant program to enrich the work of academic midcareer scholars who are seven to twenty years post doctorate.This targeted program provides support for those who are interested in advancing their understanding of a compelling problem of education by acquiring new skills, substantive knowledge, theoretical perspectives or methodological tools.

Amount: Budgets may not exceed $150,000.(Indirect costs are not permitted)

Deadlines:
Faculty of Education Research Office: At least 1 week before the Spencer Deadline (2-3 weeks earlier if you wish feedback on your application – submit to Karen Kueneman)
Research Development & Services: At least 5 days before the Spencer Deadline
Spencer: September 10, 2015 by 4:00pm CDT. (Final funding decisions will be made in early February 2016, with awards available for a start date between June 1, 2016 and October 1, 2016.)

This program is intended to provide support for a year-long program of study during which time the recipient will be released from teaching and from committee service and governance responsibilities on his or her home campus.

A ROLA proposal must be completed with the application.

SSHRC Knowledge Synthesis Grants – Energy and Natural Resources

SSHRC has announced the next Knowledge Synthesis Grants competition.  This particular knowledge synthesis will address the challenge area of: What effects will the quest for energy and natural resources have on our society and our position on the world stage?

Amount: up to $25,000

Deadlines:
Faculty of Education Research Office: At least 1 week before the SSHRC Deadline (2-3 weeks earlier if you wish feedback on your application – submit to Karen Kueneman)
Research Development & Services: At least 5 days before the SSHRC Deadline
SSHRC: 8:00 p.m. (eastern) September 10, 2015.

These grants are not intended to support original research, rather they are intended to support the synthesis of existing research knowledge on the topic and the identification of knowledge gaps.

Note: All synthesis reports must be completed by May 13, 2016. and award holders will be requested to participate in two workshop meetings in Ottawa and Calgary.
